1. About these Terms

These Website Terms of Use (Terms) explain the rules for using www.mymyelitis.com and any pages, resources or features made available through it (the Website). By using the Website, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, please stop using the Website.

Please read these Terms together with our Privacy Notice and Cookie Notice. Those notices explain how we handle personal information and use cookies or similar technologies; they do not form part of these Terms unless the law requires otherwise.

2. About MyMyelitis

The Website is operated by Scott Tarpey, a sole trader trading as MyMyelitis (we, us or our).

You can contact us at info@mymyelitis.com. Our correspondence address is Unit 87935, PO Box 4336, Manchester, M61 0BW, United Kingdom.

3. What these Terms cover

These Terms apply to general use of the Website, including reading articles, watching or following links to videos, downloading free resources, submitting an enquiry and using publicly available website features.

These Terms do not contain the complete contract for a paid service. Paid coaching, standalone one-to-one sessions, the MOGAD Navigator Programme and any future paid products or services may be governed by separate service-specific terms provided before purchase or enrolment. If these Terms conflict with service-specific terms, the service-specific terms take priority for that service.

Submitting an enquiry, booking request or application does not by itself create a contract, guarantee a booking or require us to accept you for a service.

4. Purpose of the Website

MyMyelitis provides educational content, lived-experience perspectives, practical information and non-clinical support relating to MOG antibody disease (MOGAD), transverse myelitis and associated life challenges. Content may also discuss advocacy, wellbeing, work, communication with healthcare professionals and navigating support systems.

The Website is intended to complement, not replace, appropriate medical care and advice from qualified healthcare professionals.

5. Medical and emergency disclaimer

The Website does not provide medical advice, diagnosis, treatment, prescribing, rehabilitation assessment, psychotherapy, crisis support or emergency services. Scott Tarpey is not acting as your doctor or other regulated healthcare professional. Using the Website, contacting MyMyelitis or reading or watching our content does not create a doctor-patient relationship.

Do not use Website content to diagnose a relapse, decide whether a symptom is urgent, start or stop medication, change a dose, delay treatment or replace advice from your healthcare team.

If you believe you may be experiencing a relapse, a medical emergency, rapidly worsening symptoms, thoughts of harming yourself or another urgent health or safety concern, contact the appropriate emergency or healthcare service where you are located. In the UK, call 999 in an emergency or use NHS 111 when appropriate. If you are outside the UK, use your local emergency or urgent-care service.

6. No other professional advice

Unless expressly stated, Website content is not legal, financial, employment, insurance, tax or other regulated professional advice. General information about matters such as workplace adjustments, insurance processes or healthcare communication may not apply to your circumstances or jurisdiction. Obtain advice from an appropriately qualified professional where needed.

7. Accuracy, currency and personal experiences

We take reasonable care when preparing Website content, but medical knowledge, services, policies, laws, links and third-party resources can change. We do not promise that every item is complete, current, error-free or suitable for a particular person.

Some content reflects personal lived experience or the experiences of contributors. MOGAD affects people differently. An experience, result, strategy, treatment journey or testimonial described on the Website is not a promise that another person will have the same experience or outcome.

You remain responsible for checking information that is important to a decision and for discussing medical matters with your healthcare team.

8. Age and eligibility

MyMyelitis coaching and support services, booking forms and programme applications are intended for adults aged 18 or over. The Website may contain general public information accessible to a wider audience, but it is not directed at children. If you are under 18, do not submit personal or health information or attempt to book a service.

9. Permitted use

You may access and use the Website for lawful, personal and non-commercial purposes. You may download or print a reasonable number of pages or resources for your own use, provided you do not remove ownership notices, alter the material in a misleading way or present it as professional advice.

If you wish to use Website material for a support group, training, research, commercial activity, publication or another organised purpose, contact us for permission first.

10. Intellectual property

Unless otherwise stated, the Website and its original text, videos, graphics, downloads, programme names, frameworks and other materials are owned by or licensed to MyMyelitis and are protected by intellectual-property laws.

You must not copy, reproduce, republish, sell, license, translate, scrape, distribute, modify, create derivative works from or commercially exploit our material without prior written permission, except where the law expressly permits it.

Third-party names, trademarks, publications, videos and resources remain the property of their respective owners. Their inclusion does not transfer any rights to you or to MyMyelitis.

11. Information and content you submit

You are responsible for information you send through forms, email, comments, surveys or other Website-linked channels. Do not submit unlawful, abusive, defamatory, discriminatory, threatening, misleading or infringing content, or personal information about another person unless you have a lawful reason and their authority to do so.

Please avoid sending full medical records, MRI images, laboratory results, insurance files or other highly sensitive documents unless we have specifically agreed that they are necessary and explained how to send them. We cannot guarantee the security of ordinary email.

You retain ownership of original content you submit. You give us a non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to store, reproduce and use it only as reasonably necessary to respond to you, administer the relevant activity, moderate submissions, provide a requested service or meet legal obligations.

We will not publish an identifiable testimonial, case study, photograph or client story without separate permission. We may use genuinely anonymised themes or insights for service improvement, education or content development where an individual cannot reasonably be identified, as explained in our Privacy Notice.

12. Prohibited use

You must not use the Website:

in breach of any applicable law or regulation;

to harm, harass, impersonate, mislead or unlawfully discriminate against another person;

to introduce malware, malicious code or material designed to disrupt or damage systems;

to attempt unauthorised access to the Website, its hosting, accounts, databases or connected services;

to conduct automated scraping, harvesting, monitoring or extraction that places an unreasonable load on the Website or infringes our rights;

to falsely suggest that you are connected with, endorsed by or acting for MyMyelitis; or

to republish our material in a way that removes context, medical boundaries, attribution or important safety information.

We may restrict or block access, remove submissions or take other proportionate action if we reasonably believe these Terms have been breached.

13. External links, embedded content and third-party services

The Website may link to or embed content from third parties, including YouTube, healthcare providers, charities, research organisations, social-media platforms and booking, email or payment services. These services are controlled by third parties and may have their own terms, privacy notices and cookie practices.

A link, mention or embed is provided for convenience and does not necessarily mean that we endorse every statement, service or practice of the third party. We are not responsible for third-party websites, their availability or their content. Review their terms and privacy information before using them.

14. Website availability and security

We may change, suspend, withdraw or restrict all or part of the Website for maintenance, security, legal, operational or other reasonable reasons. We do not promise that the Website or any particular feature will always be available.

We take reasonable steps to operate the Website securely, but no website or internet transmission can be guaranteed to be completely secure or free from malware. You are responsible for using suitable device security, backups and protective software.

15. Our responsibility to you

Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability where it would be unlawful to do so, including liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation. Nothing in these Terms affects your statutory rights as a consumer.

If you use the Website as a consumer, we are responsible for loss or damage that is a foreseeable result of our breach of these Terms or our failure to use reasonable care and skill. We are not responsible for loss or damage that was not foreseeable, was caused by information or circumstances outside our reasonable control, or arose because you used general Website information as a substitute for appropriate professional advice.

The Website is provided for personal and non-commercial use. We are not responsible for business losses, including loss of profit, revenue, business opportunity, anticipated savings, goodwill or data, where you use the Website for a trade, business or professional purpose.

16. Privacy

Our Privacy Notice explains what personal information we collect, why we use it, who we share it with, international transfers, retention and your rights.

17. Complaints and contact

If you have a question, concern or complaint about the Website, contact info@mymyelitis.com. Please include enough information for us to understand the issue, but do not send unnecessary medical records or other highly sensitive documents.

We will aim to acknowledge and address concerns fairly and within a reasonable time. This does not limit any rights or remedies available to you under applicable law.

18. Changes to the Website and these Terms

We may update the Website and these Terms to reflect changes to our services, technology, business structure, legal obligations or working practices. The current version will be published on this page with its effective date.

Changes apply from the date stated and do not retrospectively alter a contract already formed for a paid service unless the applicable service terms and law allow this. You should check this page from time to time.

19. If part of these Terms is invalid

If a court or relevant authority finds that part of these Terms is unlawful or unenforceable, the remaining provisions will continue to apply. A failure or delay by us in enforcing a provision does not waive our right to enforce it later.

20. Third-party rights

These Terms are between you and Scott Tarpey trading as MyMyelitis. No other person has a right to enforce them under the Contracts (Rights of Third Parties) Act 1999, except where the law provides otherwise.

21. Governing law and courts

These Terms and any non-contractual dispute arising from them are governed by the laws of England and Wales.

If you are a consumer living in the United Kingdom, you may bring legal proceedings in the courts of the part of the United Kingdom where you live. If you live outside the United Kingdom, the courts of England and Wales will have non-exclusive jurisdiction, subject to any mandatory consumer rights or local laws that apply to you.
